My name is Greg Daigle and I teach part time in the College of Design. I teach interface design in the College of Design, including students to virtual worlds (e.g. Second Life), wikis, widgets (such as on the iPhone) and Web sites.
I also am the Executive Director of Digital Watershed. We were the originators of the Wireless Cities conferences hosted by the DTC and shared program responsibilities with DMC, INMS and the College of Design. We are also in early funding rounds with several foundations for the World Class Initiative, a social network for kids interested in Climate Change and how to use wireless tools to make a difference in their local communities.

I’m Steven Clift, a leader with E-Democracy.Org. We host “online town halls” across ten communities in three countries. We are doing more and more right down at the neighborhood level online.
I am interested in working with researchers who are excited about creating actionable knowledge. We’ve been on the front lines of community/democracy and the Internet for over a decade and engage thousands of people within our network. The opportunity to work with academics so we can really “know” what we know or come to realize that what we know isn’t so, is exciting.

I’m the coordinator of the University’s River Life Program, which connects our diverse expertise here at the University to people working to revitalize urban rivers, particularly the Mississippi River. One of our projects Telling River Stories, is populating a “virtual Mississippi River” with the stories of how people have shaped the river and vice versa. Our efforts to have the community contribute river stories, and to connect those digital stories to what’s happening on the ground, are the main connections I have to this conversation.
